Toby MacNutt
I'm interested in: what defines a body? How do our bodies relate us - to each other, the world?
My training and experience includes a wide breadth of contemporary, improvisational, and adaptive styles, with a childhood foundation in ballet, jazz, and modern dance. I have studied with integrated companies such as AXIS Dance, Stopgap, Candoco, as well as individual teachers, choreographers, and experienced performance mentors. My performance history ranges from yoga studios in small Vermont towns to Danspace St Mark's in New York City to festivals in the UK and Germany.
I am available to teach - dance topics, adaptive strategies, and more; to perform; or to engage in the creation of new work.

Laila Copperansky
Laila grew up dancing in Central Vermont, discovering her commitment to movement at an early age. Her childhood was rich in diverse examples of artists, teachers, and learners who taught her that creative work can have endless forms.
Having always felt pulled in multiple directions, Laila studied dance and movement integration in early education at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, in efforts to align her passions for dance and working with young children. At Hampshire College Laila performed works by Katie Martin and Deborah Goffe, and studied with Angie Hauser, Stephen Petronio, Constance Vallis-Hill, and Cynthia McLaughlin, among others. She now works as a preschool teacher at a therapeutic early education center, working to integrate creative movement into her classroom. Laila is thrilled for the myriad of possibilities that the Vermont Dance Alliance brings forth, and is very grateful to connect with other artists.

Nicole Dagesse
Nicole Dagesse, Artistic Director of Murmurations Dance is a Vermont native whose rural upbringing in the forests and fields is a direct inspiration for her movement style and choreographic desires. Combining her training in Modern Dance, Contact Improvisation, and Aerial Dance, Nicole approaches each new site with inquisitive play and rigorous movement research. Nicole earned her BFA in Dance and BS in Environmental Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she was immersed in the creativity of the local dance scene. After several years dancing in the Boston area, Nicole felt it was time to continue her dance education as an artist and teacher, and moved to Boulder, Co. to pursue an MFA in Site Dance and Somatic Practices. The rugged terrain and the endless blue skies provided the perfect opportunity to hone her voice as a site artist. The grounding and balancing study of the Alexander Technique was a necessary complement to her physically demanding work, and Nicole was increasingly interested in the parallels between body and earth. After earning her Masters of Fine Arts, Nicole moved to North Carolina where she was the director of the dance department at Longleaf School of the Arts. It is also in NC where Nicole began Murmurations Dance with the first work, Birthing Bodies. Nicole lives in Vermont once again with her incredible husband, son, and daughter. Murmurations continues in Vermont with a vibrant group of dancers and collaborators. Nicole is also a Yoga Teacher specializing in Vinyasa Flow, Aerial Yoga and Pre/Postnatal Yoga. Nicole’s aerial dance program has grown into a thriving network of passionate students of all ages, learn more about her teaching at worldtreeyoga.org.
